We’re pleased to announce that we have joined a pledge to ensure that students qualifying as solicitors through legal apprenticeships receive equal treatment to those on training contracts.

Wiggin joins a raft of leading law firms who have pledged to screen candidates in a “fair and inclusive” way and recognise apprenticeships as an equal pathway into a legal career. The pledge, launched by Norton Rose Fulbright, commits to assessing candidates’ suitability for the role based on their experience, behaviour and competence to ensure those who have completed an alternative route to legal qualification are not disadvantaged.

Head of Human Resources, Grace Walton, commented:

“The launch of our legal apprenticeship programme represents an important step in our commitment to excellence and in developing the very best talent, irrespective of socio-economic background. We’re very excited to be opening up access to the legal profession for those who have so much talent and drive, but for whom the traditional route to qualification is not an option for a myriad of reasons.

Additionally, and to further show our commitment, we have become the latest signatory of the UK Legal Apprenticeships Pledge which states that we will celebrate, promote and support our individuals equally, regardless of their route to legal qualification.

We’re very excited for a new generation of talent to be joining Wiggin in September 2024.”

We are now accepting applications for our September 2024 intake of solicitor apprentices. Find out more about our solicitor apprenticeships here.
