Press Releases Wiggin promotes Ross Sylvester and Deepti Burton

Key contact

Wiggin promotes Ross Sylvester to partner in its Content Distribution and Transmission group, and Deepti Burton to Legal Director in the Film & TV practice, effective 1 April. This brings the total number of partners to 24 and legal directors to two.

Ross acts for a number of leading broadcasters, distribution platforms and blue chip media businesses and has developed a particular specialism in relation to the acquisition and exploitation of sports media rights.

John Banister, CEO, commented: “Ross’ promotion follows a period in which he has actively managed a number of the Firm’s key client relationships and helped strengthen and develop those relationships – with a particular focus on sports rights and the broadcast sector. The partnership is very pleased to have him on board and we look forward to further development of existing client relationships and the building of new ones.”

Deepti represents clients from all sectors of the film and TV industry, ranging from studios to broadcasters, independent producers and talent and is experienced in both production and financing work.

John Banister continued: “Wiggin’s film & TV group is going from strength the strength, in the advent of the TV tax credit and with the recent appointment of new partner, Medwyn Jones, it is an exciting place to be. Deepti’s promotion is extremely well deserved and is in recognition of not only her own experience and authority but also of her work supporting others through their development, enabling a new phase in the firm’s life.”

Ross joined Wiggin in 2004 and became senior associate in 2012; Deepti joined the firm as an assistant solicitor in 2005.

The promotions follow that of Ciaran Hickey to partner in Corporate Group and the appointment of leading TV lawyer, Medwyn Jones, from Harbottle & Lewis in January.
