Press Releases Microsoft Ventures selects Wiggin as London legal partner

Key contact

Niche media and technology law firm, Wiggin, is working with Microsoft to provide legal advice to startups who have been chosen to participate in the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator, London. Microsoft Ventures Accelerators enable top entrepreneurs to supercharge their companies through an immersive programme designed to compress their time to launch. The current London cohort began on 3 February 2014, following a successful pilot in 2013.

Microsoft Ventures Accelerators are being run in London, Berlin, Tel Aviv, Paris, Bangalore and Beijing and serve to take young start-ups to the next level, leveraging Microsoft’s global reach and unique expertise.

Wiggin will be running workshops at the Accelerator on key legal issues for tech start-ups, providing a telephone hotline for day-to-day queries and running a legal drop-in clinic at the Accelerator’s base in Whitechapel.

Ciaran Hickey, partner in Wiggin’s corporate practice, commented: “Microsoft’s startup-focussed projects have already supported some 50,000 start-ups across a range of different sectors in 100 countries worldwide. As such, we’re really excited about working with the London start-ups and Microsoft.

“Wiggin is a niche firm of media and tech experts and we have been committed to the tech start-up community for a number of years now so we can’t wait to get stuck in.

“The Accelerator is targeted at the most promising start-ups and in the early days, when growth is happening at break-neck speed, you can’t afford to take your eye off the ball and you must be surrounded by people who know your sector and can think outside of the box. We recognise this need to be agile and also the importance of creativity and innovation and we’re looking forward to seeing how we can help some of these new businesses on their way.”
