The International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (“ICAS”) has launched a ‘Global Think Tank’ dedicated to “fostering self-regulatory engagement, critical thinking, and research to advance responsible advertising worldwide”.

The Advertising Standards Authority (“ASA”) is one of the founding members of the new Global Think Tank. In a statement, the ASA explained that the think tank is “designed to give a greater voice to and encourage collective participation in improving advertising practices; fostering effective self-regulation through independent research, critical thinking and insights.” It also added that the initial focus of the Global Think Tank will be sustainability and the responsible use of AI in advertising, before addressing other topics as it expands in size and operation.

Commenting on the launch, Guy Parker, Chief Executive of the ASA, said, “The ASA is delighted to be a founding sponsor of the ICAS Global Think Tank. I’m convinced the Think Tank will widen the net of expert contributors to effective ad self-regulation, developing insights on the most pressing global issues of the day, to the benefit of the industry, people and society.
