We’re proud to have advised the shareholders of Moonage Pictures, one of the UK’s fastest growing independent production companies, on the sale of a majority stake to ITV Studios.

Moonage Pictures was founded by Will Gould, Matthew Read and Frith Tiplady in 2018 and creates original film and TV content for both the UK and international markets.

The team has been responsible for an enviable catalogue of high-end drama successes, including Netflix’s #1 hit The Gentlemen (directed by Guy Richie), BBC/Netflix co-production A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and The Famous Five for the BBC.

As part of the acquisition, BBC Studios has exited its stake in Moonage and will continue to distribute returning series including A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and The Famous Five. International distribution of new Moonage Pictures series will now be handled by ITV Studios.

Frith Tiplady, Managing Director of Moonage Pictures said “We are delighted to be joining the team at ITV Studios. From assisting us when we first set up Moonage to this next stage on our journey,  the Wiggin team have been brilliant at guiding us through the legal process. Throughout they have been focused and detailed, and very much supporting us through the process in a timely and patient manner.”

The Wiggin team was led by Ben Whitelock, who was primarily supported by Benedict Headicar, Michael Maccabe and Samantha Cheong.

Wiggin’s corporate practice is widely recognised as the leading UK legal advisor in the independent TV M&A and investment market with recent deals including advising Fulwell 73 on its merger with The SpringHill Company, Hartswood Films on its sale to ITV Studios, Beach House Pictures on its sale to Fremantle and The Forge Entertainment on its sale to Banijay.
